Sixty Parties Interested in Reviving Bankrupt Bicycle Manufacturers Batavus and Sparta
Sixty parties have expressed interest in restarting operations for Accell Group, the bankrupt parent company of bicycle brands including Batavus, Sparta, Babboe, and Raleigh. Curators Thijs Hekman and Erik Schuurs reported this interest in their first insolvency report following Accell's August bankruptcy, which resulted from heavy debt after being taken private by KKR in 2022. Potential buyers are targeting either specific brands or larger business units, with notable interest from Irish investor Quanta Capital and Singaporean firm DuTech. To facilitate continuity, a banking consortium comprising ABN Amro, ING, Rabobank, and Deutsche Bank agreed to allow the sale of existing inventory, providing temporary operational stability while negotiations proceed.
