Griekspoor Starts Asia Tour with Defeat and Missed Set Points in Chengdu
World number 55 Tallon Griekspoor began his series of three tennis tournaments in China with a first-round defeat to Canadian Denis Shapovalov in Chengdu, losing 4-6, 6-7 (3). Despite missing two set points at 6-5 after improving his performance, the 30-year-old Dutchman could not overcome Shapovalov's strong serve. His compatriot Botic van de Zandschulp also competes in Chengdu, where he received a bye in the first round. Both players, who recently helped the Netherlands defeat Colombia in the Davis Cup, will also team up for doubles and participate in upcoming tournaments in Beijing and Shanghai.
