New Dunes for the Schevening Concrete Wasteland: Everyone Benefits
Deltacommissaris Co Verdaas advised adapting to climate change by building new dunes in Scheveningen instead of reinforcing existing dikes. Consultants Rebel and Arcadis recommended a 130-hectare dune landscape as a cheaper, more robust solution that increases property values by approximately 100 million euros. This approach protects against sea-level rise while restoring nature and improving the living environment in the area.
