Sustainable Mud Jeans Continues Under Van Lier Shoes Owner
The sustainable Dutch denim brand Mud Jeans is restarting under the ownership of entrepreneur Nick de Ronde Bresser, who previously revived the bankrupt shoe brand Van Lier. Curator Jurgen van den Heuvel sold Mud Jeans’ assets for over 25 million euros to N5, Bresser’s company, after the original business filed for bankruptcy due to significant losses and debt. Founded in 2012 by Bert van Son, Mud Jeans struggled to maintain its lease model despite initial publicity and a 2022 revenue of 3 million euros. The company failed to reach its 10 million euro growth target, recording nearly one million euros in losses in both 2023 and 2024. Creditors, including ABN Amro and the Tax Authority, are owed nearly 3 million euros, with most proceeds going to the bank.
