World Cup Viewers Flooded with Ads for Fast Food and Drinks

A study by the University of Bristol and the University of Oxford reveals that viewers of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada were exposed to extensive advertising for fast food, drinks, gambling, and cryptocurrencies. Brands of unhealthy food and beverages accounted for more than 70% of the 65,722 observed instances, appearing for nearly a quarter of total match time. Four major brands dominated the sponsorship, responsible for 65% of all product logos visible during live broadcasts.
