Acceptance of Homosexuality Drops Sharply Among Dutch Secondary School Youth
A recent HBSC study by the Trimbos Institute and Utrecht University reveals that acceptance of homosexuality among Dutch secondary school students has declined significantly between 2021 and 2025. Positive views among boys halved from 40% to 22%, while girls saw a drop from 78% to 51%. The research also highlights worsening mental health, with emotional problems among girls rising from 29% to 43%, and increased reports of bullying and negative school atmospheres.
