Seven men arrested for trading in thousands of kilos of illegal fireworks
Seven men were arrested over the weekend for importing and trading illegal heavy fireworks. Police seized 3,800 kilograms of explosives after intercepting shipments from Germany with German police assistance. In late August, 1,200 kilograms were caught in Schaijk, leading to one arrest. On Saturday, further seizures in Arnhem, Heijen, and Ulft included 2,600 kilograms of fireworks, 30,000 euros in cash, and data storage devices. The suspects, aged 31 to 60, primarily dealt in F4 category fireworks, which are prohibited for consumers even before the general fireworks ban.
