Record Number of Homes Energy-Efficient with Subsidy, Insulation Most Popular
According to the CBS, nearly 300,000 homes were made more energy-efficient using subsidies or loans in 2025, a 22 percent increase from the previous year and the highest level since 2021. Isolating homes remains the most popular measure, accounting for nearly three-quarters of all subsidies. While individual homeownership saw significant progress, properties managed by Homeowners Associations (vve) lagged behind, with only 5 percent undergoing improvements compared to 11 percent for non-vve homes. Henk Visscher, a professor at TU Delft, noted that collective decision-making and financial constraints within vves complicate these upgrades, though the gap is gradually narrowing.
