Tilburg-based trio Chica Chica, led by Judith Renkema, creates music heavily influenced by psychedelic cumbia from 1960s and 70s Peru. The group uses guitar, bass, and drums to produce an attractive Dutch version of the genre where melodies often feature the bass. Their sound occasionally references surf music and possesses cinematic qualities, with some tracks resembling three-minute film soundtracks.
