Community Service for Sailors Over Livestream of Sex With Unknowing Colleague
On 2026-09-07, two sailors were sentenced to community service for recording and distributing footage of a sexual encounter with a female colleague on a navy ship in Den Helder, without her knowledge. Ten to fifteen colleagues watched the act via livestream. The Arnhem court gave the Vorden sailor 160 hours of community service and two months’ suspended military detention; the Lochem sailor received 140 hours and a two-month suspended sentence. Both must pay about €11,000 compensation and attend cognitive skills training.
