Poet Babs Gons Receives Johannes Vermeer Prize
Poet Babs Gons has been unanimously awarded the Johannes Vermeer Prize for her boundary-pushing, multidisciplinary work in poetry, spoken word, and performance art. The jury praised her ability to merge these forms with social engagement, creating a unique genre that addresses contemporary societal issues with both compassion and sharpness. Culture Minister Rianne Letschert will present the award, which includes 100,000 euros for a special project, at the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague on November 23.
