Former Top Skater Irene Schouten Expects Second Child: 'So Happy and Grateful'
Former elite speed skater Irene Schouten announced on Monday that she is expecting her second child, expressing gratitude on Instagram alongside photos of her firstborn son, Dirk. Schouten and her husband Dirkjan Mak became parents to Dirk in December 2024, shortly before discovering he had a rare genetic mutation known in only eleven cases worldwide. After a period of hospitalizations, Dirk’s condition has improved significantly, requiring no medication or treatment for epileptic seizures.
