Fourth Death from West Nile Virus, Infection Acquired via Blood Donor in Utrecht Province
A fourth person has died after contracting the West Nile virus through a blood transfusion. The Dutch National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) confirmed the transmission route, while blood bank Sanquin identified the infected donor as originating from northern Utrecht province.
