Dutchman Hartog Steps Out and Rescues Fellow Driver from Burning Car During Race in China
On 2026-09-05, Dutch racing driver Loek Hartog rescued British driver Ollie Millroy from a burning car after a serious crash during the Chinese GT Championship in Shanghai. Millroy was unable to exit his car unaided. Hartog, 23, immediately left his own vehicle to help, with Millroy later crediting Hartog for saving his life. Emergency services arrived over a minute later. The race was stopped, and Millroy’s teammate Betty Chen withdrew from the championship, citing poor safety response.
