Largest Christmas Tree in IJsselstein Lit Earlier: ‘Magical Moment’

The largest Christmas tree in the Netherlands, formed by lights in the Gerbrandytoren tower in IJsselstein, will be lit earlier than usual on November 28. Ghita van der Kraan, chair of the organizing foundation, stated the date was moved forward to foster community cohesion and provide a warm start to the holiday season for residents. Originally conceived by Ton Westland in the early 1990s, the installation has become an annual tradition, with lights remaining illuminated until Epiphany on January 6.
