Radio DJ Bert Kranenbarg leaves NPO after 32 years following budget cuts to his show: 'Very sad'
Radio DJ Bert Kranenbarg (61) is leaving the public broadcaster NPO after 32 years because his program, BertOp5 on KRO-NCRV Radio 5, is being cut due to budget reductions. He announced this during his show on Thursday, stating that while he will continue until New Year's Eve 2026, he will depart the organization afterward. Kranenbarg expressed deep regret over the situation, noting that a new channel lineup left no room for his show, which has aired since January 2017. He began his career at a hospital radio station in Apeldoorn and joined Omroep Gelderland before starting at the NPO in 1995. Although he does not yet know what he will do next year, he looks forward to exploring new opportunities now that his departure has been made public.
