Dutch volleyball players suffer first defeat at European Championship against Belgium
The Dutch women's volleyball team suffered their first defeat at the European Championship on 2026-08-27 in Baku, losing to Belgium after 2.5 hours: 25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 13-15. Under coach Felix Koslowski, the Netherlands started well but squandered set points in the first set and lost momentum in the second. Led by the recovered Jolien Knollema, they fought back but faltered in the fifth set. Despite leading 13-12, errors allowed Belgium to win. Both teams had already secured spots in the round of 16.
