1,381 Times the Same Loop, All Around the IJsselmeer

Kees Stavenuiter, a 73-year-old cyclist from Andijk, has completed 1,381 laps around the 200-kilometer IJsselmeer route, riding regardless of weather conditions. He typically finishes the loop in about seven hours at an average speed of 28 kilometers per hour, despite previously suffering from polymyalgia and prostate cancer. Stavenuiter’s dedication is rooted in his family history, including his father’s participation in the Elfstedentocht ice skating race and his own three victories in the event between 1985 and 1997.
