All Primary Schools in Best Adopt Graves at Mierlo War Cemetery
Nine primary schools in Best have adopted graves at the Mierlo war cemetery, which holds 665 British soldiers who died near the end of World War II. Kindcentrum Platijn adopted the grave of Corporal John Hines, who died on September 25, 1944, during the liberation of the area. The initiative, prompted by local resident Loek van den Hurk, aims to preserve historical memory and educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom.
