Ronald Koeman Jr. Tears During Mass Tribute to Late Mother at AZ-Telstar Match
AZ and Telstar supporters jointly honored Bartina Koeman, who died at age 65 last Tuesday, during their match in Alkmaar. Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr., son of former national coach Ronald Koeman, played despite the loss and broke down in tears during a tribute in the twelfth minute. Players, officials, and fans from both teams applauded while banners reading "Strength for the Koeman family" were displayed. Telstar trainer Henk Brugge stated that Ronald chose to play as an outlet for his grief. The tribute also followed similar honors by FC Groningen for Ronald Koeman Sr., who previously coached AZ.
