New Searches in Investigation into Collapse of Crypto Platform Knaken

Justice authorities conducted new searches at two residences in Rotterdam as part of the investigation into alleged fraud at crypto platform Knaken, seizing phones and computers without making arrests. Owner Ronald J. is suspected of embezzlement and forgery after the platform shut down in May, leaving customers unable to access their assets. Although Knaken blamed a 2020 hack for the issues, the company’s bankruptcy was declared in mid-July, with curator Carl Hamm noting that millions in customer funds are missing despite the sale of remaining crypto assets for 2.2 million euros.
