Noa Vahle files complaint against 74-year-old Dutch man over deepfake videos: 'Disturbing development'
Sports journalist Noa Vahle and talkshow host Hélène Hendriks have filed criminal complaints against a 74-year-old man from North Holland for creating deepfake sex videos of numerous celebrities. The Public Prosecution Service is prosecuting the man following an investigation into MrDeepFakes, a website that attracted over 200,000 monthly visitors in the Netherlands. Twenty-one victims reported the crimes to police, while others sought legal remedies to remove the content. The suspect’s computer contained images of approximately sixty well-known figures, with some videos viewed over 100,000 times. David D., the 37-year-old Canadian founder of the site, was not prosecuted as his actions were not illegal in Canada at the time, though he lost his job as a hospital pharmacist.
