Dutch Lower House Calls for Clearer Ban on Camera Glasses
The Dutch Lower House (Tweede Kamer) is urging the government to implement a clearer and broader ban on camera glasses, citing widespread public unrest over privacy violations. Pro-Kamerlid Kathmann emphasized that the Netherlands is fed up with people being filmed in intimate situations without consent, while organizations like Bits of Freedom and the Consumentenbond support the prohibition. Although the cabinet argues existing laws suffice, stating the devices are only for private use, Kathmann insists explicit guidelines are needed due to frequent rule-breaking.
