Municipality Terminates Lease at De Rotterdam, Relocating Thousands of Civil Servants to the Center
The municipality of Rotterdam will vacate the De Rotterdam building on Kop van Zuid by early 2028, relocating thousands of civil servants to central locations such as Weena 70 and AIR Offices. Alderman Diederik van Dommelen (VVD) stated that changing work habits have left too many desks empty, prompting a move that aims to save approximately 10 million euros annually in housing costs. The city will also leave offices at Oostmaaslaan, Annie M.G. Schmidtplein, and Ceintuurbaan, reducing its rented office space by 20,000 square meters.
