Netherlands to Participate in Eurovision Song Festival, NPO to Manage Entry
The Netherlands will participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Festival, with the public broadcaster NPO managing the entry after AVROTROS withdrew. The NOS will handle reporting and commentary, while an independent team of experts will organize the participation without a formal selection process. NPO mediadirector Jurre Bosman aims to announce the representative by Christmas, contacting artists directly due to time constraints. EBU director Martin Green expressed delight at the return, emphasizing unity through music. This follows Austria's absence last year due to geopolitical tensions regarding Israel and Gaza, which also caused withdrawals from Spain, Ireland, Iceland, and Slovenia. AVROTROS cited insufficient ethical measures by the EBU for its withdrawal. The 2026 festival will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, in May.
