Several hospitals in the Netherlands will perform approximately four abortions per year for women who are 22 to 24 weeks pregnant. While abortion is legal up to 24 weeks, it was previously only permitted for medical necessity. Health Minister Hermans stated that pregnancy termination can now occur without such necessity.
