Pets Visit Patients at ETZ: 'Relieves Stress'
The Elisabeth-TweeSteden Ziekenhuis (ETZ) in Tilburg officially opened its new Pet Garden on Monday, allowing patients to meet and cuddle their own pets during hospitalization. Geriatrician Dr. Sarah Robben and nurse Lonneke van Vugt stated that the initiative addresses patient needs, as animals provide significant stress relief by acting like family. Visits must be planned through nursing staff, with a relative bringing the animal to the facility. While rats are prohibited and some birds face restrictions, healthy, vaccinated animals including horses are permitted.
