Batavia Sets Sail for Final Time from Lelystad
The reconstructed VOC ship Batavia has departed Lelystad for Amsterdam due to wood rot that prevents it from remaining in the water. Designed by shipbuilder Willem Vos and launched in 1995, the vessel attracted approximately five million visitors. It will be stored on a ponton before being moved to Museum Batavialand, which aims to reopen in late 2028.
