More than 100 Ukrainian refugees to move to residential care center in Overvecht
The municipality of Utrecht will house 108 Ukrainian refugees at Huis aan de Vecht in Overvecht starting in December, with accommodation on the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth floors until September 2028. The building is currently being renovated for this purpose, and a community meeting will be held before the refugees arrive. Many of these refugees already reside in Utrecht and work or attend school. Care organization AxionContinu rents the facility, which also houses elderly residents requiring intensive care; agreements have been established regarding management, supervision, and shared space usage, including the appointment of a social manager to support the refugees and address neighborhood inquiries.
