Volkswagen and Audi recall millions of cars due to steering issues
Volkswagen and Audi are recalling nearly 2.9 million vehicles globally due to a risk of steering failure caused by screws that may corrode and break. The recall affects Volkswagen models including the Tiguan, Touran, Golf Variant, and Caddy manufactured between 2013 and 2024, as well as Audi Q3 models from 2017 to 2024. Dealers will replace the defective components with corrosion-resistant screws. While approximately one million recalled vehicles are registered in Germany, it remains unclear how many affected cars are in the Netherlands. Owners can verify if their vehicle is included using the RDW license plate check. Currently, no accidents have been reported linked to this defect, though Volkswagen estimates that up to one percent of the recalled cars may suffer bolt damage.
