Fire in Congo Destroys Two Schools, At Least 24 Children Killed
A major fire at two schools in Bukavu, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, killed at least 24 children—19 girls and 5 boys, all under ten—on 2026-09-10. Local media report the children died while trying to escape. An unknown number of adults also perished, and 29 people were injured, with 21 in intensive care.
