Only surviving terrorist from 2015 Paris attacks remains in solitary confinement
Jihadist Salah Abdeslam, the sole survivor of the 2015 Paris attacks that killed 130 people, has been denied permission to leave his solitary confinement cell after a court in Lille rejected his appeal. Abdeslam, who fled after the November 2015 assaults on venues including the Bataclan and Stade de France, was arrested in Molenbeek, Belgium, in March 2016 and sentenced to life imprisonment. He is currently serving his sentence in Pas-de-Calais and has also been convicted for the 2016 Brussels attacks. A judge ruled that there was no evidence his detention conditions were unlawful, despite previous disputes over visitation rules following the discovery of ISIS propaganda in his cell.
