Pro members choose to join social democrats in Europe
Progressive Netherlands (Pro) members voted in an online referendum to align with the Party of European Socialists (PES), with over 65% supporting the move compared to roughly 34% for the European Green Party. This decision follows advice from prominent figures Mariëtte Hamer and Nel van Dijk, who argued that Pro would have greater influence within the socialist family. While some members criticized the choice due to ideological differences on issues like migration and climate, the party confirmed it will continue cooperating with the Greens until the 2029 European elections. Additionally, former trade unionist Kitty Jong was elected as the new party chair, narrowly defeating Michiel Servaes.
