NBA legend Bob Pettit (93), first MVP winner, dies
Bob Pettit, the NBA icon and first recipient of the Most Valuable Player award, has died at the age of 93. He was also the first player to surpass 20,000 career points in the league. Pettit played eleven seasons as a power forward for the Hawks from 1954 to 1965, leading them to their only championship in 1958 while the team was based in St. Louis and Milwaukee. A two-time regular-season MVP and eleven-time All-Star, he shares the record for most All-Star Game MVP honors with Kobe Bryant.
