Man (22) Dies After Falling 10 Meters at Colosseum; Tourist Site Closed All Day
A 22-year-old man died on Tuesday evening after falling approximately 10 meters while installing a new lighting system at Rome’s Colosseum. Although he was resuscitated, he died at the scene, prompting an investigation and autopsy request. Initially, only part of the monument was closed, but criticism from Italy’s largest labor union led Culture Minister Daniela Santache to order the entire site to remain closed on Wednesday. All work at the building has been suspended pending further orders.
