FBI Investigates ShinyHunters Hackers' Claim of Stolen Data
The FBI has launched an investigation after the hacker collective ShinyHunters claimed on Tuesday that it stole personnel data from the agency. The group, known in the Netherlands for a hack on Odido, posted screenshots on a dark web site alleging unauthorized access to FBIjobs.gov and data belonging to nearly all agents and applicants. The FBI confirmed it is aware of allegations regarding unauthorized activities related to the site and is currently investigating. ShinyHunters stated the attack was retaliation for a May 2026 statement by the FBI describing their methods and advising targets not to pay ransoms.
