Eriksen Terminates Wolfsburg Contract After Collapsing on Field
Christian Eriksen has terminated his contract with VfL Wolfsburg at his own request, following a collapse during a Denmark national team match in June. The 34-year-old midfielder, who had a contract until summer 2027, stated it is important for him to be close to his family in Denmark. Wolfsburg director Dieter Hecking confirmed the club respected Eriksen's wish to end the agreement. This marks the second time Eriksen has collapsed on the pitch, having previously suffered cardiac arrest during the 2021 European Championship. He now wears an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). It remains unclear whether Eriksen will continue his professional football career.
