Nearly One Million Euros for Auction of Brigitte Bardot's Belongings, 20 Times More Than Expected
An auction of personal items and memorabilia belonging to the late French actress Brigitte Bardot took place in Paris on Monday, raising nearly 954,000 euros including fees. This amount was almost twenty times higher than the pre-auction estimate of approximately 50,000 euros, with around 3,000 bidders competing for 285 items. Bernard d'Ormale, Bardot’s last husband, criticized the sale as disrespectful to her memory and claimed she would not have agreed to it, arguing the items should have remained part of her estate rather than being sold to raise funds. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Fondation Brigitte Bardot and her son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier. Bardot died in December at the age of 91.
