Raids and Arrests at LGBT Organizations in Turkey
Turkish authorities raided the offices of six LGBT organizations, arresting 26 people according to official reports, while Kaos GL claims at least 50 arrests, including over ten at home. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated the investigation targets those facilitating prostitution. Police operations in twelve provinces this weekend seized drugs, smuggled alcohol, and a firearm. The government also blocked access to LGBT-related websites and social media. Human rights group IHD called the actions state discrimination and fear politics. LGBT events face increasing bans since 2015.
