PVV MP Boon Wanted to Visit Colleagues at Home After AI Image Complaints
The integrity investigation into PVV MP Maikel Boon has stalled because he refused to cooperate with the College for Research on Integrity, citing his right to remain silent. Boon threatened to visit complainants at their homes to verify their identities, a move the College deemed inappropriate. Although PVV leader Geert Wilders previously apologized for AI-generated fake images involving former GroenLinks-PvdA leader Frans Timmermans and racist content shared via Facebook pages, the College concluded there was insufficient evidence to rule that Boon was responsible due to his non-cooperation. Sixteen MPs filed complaints alleging the images influenced public opinion and posed a violence risk. The College stated it could not issue a verdict without input from the member himself.
