'Revenge Dress' of Princess Diana to Be Auctioned at Sotheby's
The daring short black silk dress worn by Princess Diana in 1994, known as the 'revenge dress,' will be auctioned at Sotheby's on 2026-12-09. Diana wore the off-shoulder Christina Stambolian dress the day Prince Charles admitted infidelity on TV. According to stylist Ana Harvey, Diana wanted to look 'like a million dollars' and changed outfits last minute. The dress, never worn again by Diana, was first auctioned in 1997 for charity. Sotheby's expects it to fetch €130,000–€250,000, with part of the proceeds going to charity.
