Former FC Twente Player Bryan Ruiz Appointed Interim Coach of Costa Rica
Former FC Twente player Bryan Ruiz has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Costa Rica national team, following the dismissal of Fernando Batista on Monday. The 41-year-old, who previously played for LD Alajuelense and won the Eredivisie title with FC Twente in 2010, takes over after Costa Rica failed to qualify for the recent World Cup and suffered two early defeats in the Nations League. Ruiz’s first match in charge is an away game against Nicaragua this Friday night, followed by a fixture against Haiti.
