Waiting List at Veilig Thuis Grows: Reports Sometimes Sit Idle for Months
The Inspectorate of Health Care and Youth warns that families facing domestic violence or child abuse in East Brabant may wait months for a full safety assessment, posing significant risks. In May 2025, 345 reports were pending, with only 37 percent assessed within the legal five-day deadline, and some delayed by three months. Although Veilig Thuis attempted to improve dossier management and cooperation, waiting lists have grown due to increased complexity and workload. The inspectorate states that municipalities and other care organizations must collaborate to resolve these delays, as Veilig Thuis cannot solve the issue alone.
