Birthday Reusser Defeats Vollering to Retain World Time Trial Title
Swiss cyclist Marlen Reusser won the individual time trial world championship in Montreal on her 35th birthday, finishing in 50 minutes and 24 seconds. She defeated British rider Zoe Backstedt by 40 seconds and German Franziska Koch by 45 seconds. Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering finished eighth, nearly a minute and a half behind Reusser despite starting earlier, but remained optimistic about her upcoming road race performance.
