Dutch Consumers Increase Fuel Purchases Abroad by 20 Percent, Especially in Belgium
According to De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), Dutch consumers crossed borders to buy gasoline or diesel 20 percent more often in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, while domestic fuel purchases dropped by 3 percent. Transactions in Belgium rose by 33 percent, whereas Germany saw an 11 percent increase, though spending remains higher in Germany at 872 million euros versus 594 million euros in Belgium. Lower fuel prices abroad drive this trend, with Netherlands prices significantly higher than those in neighboring countries.
