Belgian grows heaviest pumpkin at Open National Championship: 'I talk to it'
Jan Biermans from Kasterlee won the Open National Pumpkin Growing Championship in Breda with an 847.5 kg Atlantic Giant pumpkin. Jury chair Henry Jansen noted that high summer temperatures hindered growth, as last year's record stood at over 1000 kg. Biermans dedicated over an hour daily to care and claims talking to the plant helped its development.
