Firefighter Dimitri Saves Woman's Life During Flight to Crete: 'Different Without Colleagues'
Dimitri De Vriese, a 53-year-old firefighter from Bruges, revived a woman who lost consciousness during a Brussels Airlines flight from Brussels to Crete. Approximately halfway through the journey, he responded to a call for medical assistance and performed CPR and administered oxygen for ten minutes until she regained awareness. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Zagreb, where the woman was transferred to a hospital for further care. De Vriese stated that while he felt it was his duty to act, the experience of performing life-saving measures without colleagues on board was distinct.
