Women on Television Remain Primarily Bystanders or Victims
A new report by the Commissariaat voor de Media reveals that women constitute only 39 percent of television appearances, a negligible increase from two years ago. People with visible disabilities represent just 0.7 percent of on-screen figures, despite comprising approximately 12 percent of the Dutch population. Women are frequently portrayed as victims or random bystanders rather than experts, who are predominantly male.
