Hennie Has Painted Van Gogh Copies for Over Sixty Years: 'I Love the Atmosphere'
Hennie Agten from Helmond has been painting copies of Vincent van Gogh's works since 1964, achieving such high quality that they resemble originals. He recently displayed his paintings at the Kostershuisje in Nuenen, the oldest house in the area where Van Gogh once lived and worked. Agten claims to have replicated all of Van Gogh's works, noting he knows exactly which colors were used, such as Prussian blue instead of black. He highlighted the difficulty of capturing light effects and mentioned having a fan club in Belgium with 180 members. Agten also shared that he uses inexpensive materials, like 95-cent pencils, emphasizing that artistic skill lies in the mind rather than expensive supplies.
