Prosecutor demands up to six years in prison for recruiting and exploiting Thai women in the Netherlands
The Dutch Public Prosecution Service (OM) has demanded up to six years in prison for four Dutch suspects in a major investigation into an international network that sexually exploited Thai women. Eleven Thai women were identified as victims. The women signed contracts for visas and transport but were saddled with large debts. A 25-year-old from Zwolle, seen as the network's key figure, faces the highest sentence. Two Thai 'madames' allegedly led the recruitment agencies. Thirteen more suspects, including landlords and money launderers, are also on trial.
